FTC Disclosure Requirements
How PROOF scans content for proper FTC disclosures.
Automatic FTC Scanning
PROOF automatically scans creator content for FTC-compliant disclosures. The Compliance tab on each campaign shows disclosure status for every contract, including:
- Hashtag Detection — Checks for required disclosure hashtags (#ad, #sponsored, #partner, etc.)
- Text Detection — Scans caption/description text for disclosure language
- Placement Scoring — Evaluates whether disclosures are prominently placed (not buried at the end)
- Visibility Scoring — Assesses if disclosures are easily readable and visible
- Platform-Specific Checks — Each platform has different FTC guidelines; PROOF checks against the relevant standard
Compliance Status
Each contract receives a compliance rating: Compliant (green), Needs Review (amber), or Non-Compliant (red). Non-compliant content is flagged for immediate attention.
Non-compliant influencer content can result in FTC enforcement actions against both the brand and the creator. PROOF's automated scanning helps you catch issues early, but brands are ultimately responsible for ensuring compliance.
